Healthier Home with DIY Natural Cleaners
A few years ago, I made a plan to thoroughly clean my apartment from top to bottom before moving out. I was determined to get my full deposit refund which was over 1500 USD. As I began to clean a glass mirror with a commercial cleaner, I had the most horrible headache. Later I noticed that when I tried to use an aerosol room deodorizer, I had the same allergic reaction. This led me to research alternative natural cleaners instead of commercial products which contained toxic chemicals.
DIY cleaning products use basic ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, essential oils, and castile soap Creating these products eliminated my headaches and allergic reactions. I was even able to customize each product with my favorite combination of essential oils, filling my home with the elegant scent of high-end organic products. My favorite oils to use are lavender, lemon, rosemary, and eucalyptus.
One bonus of natural DIY cleaners is that they are much safer for use around pets and small children. Creating them can be fun and even save you quite a bit of money in the long run. Want a wonderful, relaxing room spray? Try a 50/50 combination of vodka and water then add 15-20 drops of lavender oil.
There are many online tutorials that show you how to make these cleaners, but the one I found most useful was on the youtube channel: CleanMySpace at https://youtu.be/gePt65DyW2g.
For a more chic and stylish look, I even added my own product label on each spray bottle.
